Hands up if you miss ‘Downton Abbey’ on TV at the weekends? We certainly do, and so we loved interviewing former Downton actress Penelope Wilton about life after the hit TV show for this week’s issue of Woman’s Own.
The actress, who is now 70, played quick-witted Isobel Crawley in the award-winning show, and now she’s appearing in another series set back in time – but only the 80s instead of the early 1900s this time! Penelope plays a solitary character living in the shadow of her husband in ITV drama ‘Brief Encounters’, and it was quite a change from playing the lady of a grand house in the countryside Downton, when her new character has a storyline that sees her hosting an Ann Summers party in the show!
