Christmas is a wonderful time for families to get together and celebrate a magical time of year. However, for TV presenter Fiona Philips, this special time has also been marked with heartbreak.

Fiona’s mum Amy sadly died from Alzheimer’s disease in 2006. The star is now campaigning to find a cure for the terrifying illness. Remembering one particularly sad Christmas, Fiona recalled, “It was one Christmas that it dawned on me that there was something terribly wrong with mum.”

“Mum was cold and distant…it was clear that she had forgotten Christmas”.
