The game show Revolution was set to feature teams competing to win a whopping £3m – the biggest prize in telly.
But bosses decided to pull the plug on the programme after the pilot episode was filmed, claiming it wasn’t up to scratch. A source said: ‘Bosses had high hopes for Revolution but despite the effort and expense it just didn’t work, so it was decided not to proceed.’
An ITV insider confirmed: ‘Revolution was always a non-broadcast pilot and it was one we decided not to go ahead with. On the strength of the pilot we didn’t feel like it was ready to go on to a series.’
It will come as a huge blow to Carol, 52, after her ITV cookery show Food Glorious Food also failed to live up to the hype.
At least she will be consoled with the news that she’s been offered a new contract to front Loose Women.
