Woman’s Own Diets nutrition expert Angela Dowden is on hand to answer your questions in our Diet Club forum. Here’s some advice on a healthy breakfast…
Q. I like a banana with a fruit and fibre cereal for breakfast, but it’s high in sugar and calories. Is there an alternative?
A. Fruit and fibre isn’t a bad choice as it has about the same calories as cornflakes and not unduly high amounts of sugar. However if you would like some lower-calorie, high-fibre cereal try Raisin Wheats, Shreddies or Optivita Berry Oat Crisp. Other options are a boiled egg with wholemeal toast and Marmite, two or three lean bacon rashers with grilled tomatoes, or a small bowl of porridge made with skimmed milk.
Finally, a banana is about 100 calories, so swap it for an apple or a handful of berries.
