We’ve long been programmed to believe that the more we spend on a beauty product, the better and more noticeable the results. But does splurging always guarantee better ant-ageing effects or are we being suckered in by fancy packaging and designer brands?
A new comparison by Superdrug has debunked this common beauty misconception and found that in this case expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better.
The 4-week trial saw 54 women blind-testing two Swiss-made skin serums – one priced at £130, the other just £14.99.
The participants were then asked to rate the look of their skin, from radiance and wrinkles, to smoothness.
The results showed that there was little difference between the triple-figure serum and the high street alternative.
So what was this affordable serum? Superdrug Optimum PhytoCellTec Intensive Protecting Serum, £14.99, which helps to renew the skin to smooth lines and even out skintone.
