The reader: Kelie Montgomery, 34, from Newport, Shropshire

The problem: Kelie has struggled to find colours to suit her hazel eyes so usually keeps her make-up simple with foundation, blusher and mascara. ‘For evening I’ll apply eyeshadow in browns, greens and deep blues but I’ve never done much with my brows or lashes,’ admits Kelie. ‘I don’t have a lot of time with two small children so it would be good to learn some time-saving tricks, too.’

The solution: Kelie has great eyebrows but they’re very light so we used a powder shadow to define the arch. A simple of slick of black eyeliner make Kelie’s eyes stand out.

Step 1. After foundation, dot concealer under the eye and blend with a built-in brush. We used Clinique Airbrush Concealer, £17.

Step 2. A well-defined brow can change the shape of the face completely. Apply Brow Perfector, £19.50, Shavata, with a slanted brush using soft strokes in the direction of the hair.

Step 3. A slick of black gel liner looks striking but is really simple. Use an eyeliner brush for precision, resting your elbow on a flat surface to steady yourself. Sweep Fluidline in Blacktrack, £14, Mac, across from the inner corner and flick upwards at the end to lift the eye.
