Our Beauty Editor, Stephanie, grabbed a quick chat with the presenter and new face of Clairol Nice’n Easy No Ammonia range to talk about hair, facial acupuncture and a really cheap way to plump skin.

Your hair looks in great condition – how do you take care of it?

I try and use a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner, as it’s better for my hair and makes it feel really soft. Once a year I have a natural Brazilian blow-dry as my hair is actually naturally curly.

I really look after it throughout the rest of the year, making sure that I give it a rest from heated styling for a few days after filming and shoots – my hair can be put under quite a lot of stress on set. I also always use a thermal protector before I dry my hair, and I never use hair straighteners.

Have you ever or would you ever veer away from blonde?

I was white blonde when I was little, so I tend to always see myself as a blonde – it’s hard to see myself as another colour after all these years! Although, saying that, now that I’ve had such a great experience with the nice’n easy No Ammonia range, I would consider experimenting with new shades.

Since I’ve started working with the brand I’ve tried 2 shades already – at the moment I’m Beige Blonde and I’m loving it. Plus I know it will only last for up to 8 washes so there’s no commitment if I change my mind.

What’s your best anti-ageing tip?

Diet and lifestyle are key! I know it’s an obvious one, but it’s all about what you put in. If you’re eating well and exercising, it helps your body age well. Its the most commonly quoted thing but I water is really important. It helps your skin so much.

Everyone knows you need to drink water, but you don’t notice how crucial it is until you’re not drinking enough. I know it’s hard to drink loads especially in the winter, but I had a cold last week and made myself drink litres to try and shift it and it made such a difference – even down to my skin feeling plumper.

What’s your must-have beauty buy?

Metrin – it’s a skin care brand that my mum brought over from Canada years ago and I wouldn’t use anything else now. That’s my staple product; my must have! I use other things to boost but it’s a 5-step program and the moisturiser leaves my skin feeling so lovely afterwards. Nothing else makes my skin feel as good.

Which beauty product do you splurge on and why?

For a treat, I have bought Sarah Chapman’s Stem Cell Collagen Activator, £245 – you need to use them morning and night but they do seem to give a boost.
