Q: I’ve always had visible pores but over the last few years they’ve become more noticeable. Can I do anything to disguise them?
Cheryl Irvine, 60, from Chester
A: People with oily skin tend to have larger pores. Plus, with age our elastin levels decline, which can also cause our skin to become less refined.
First of all, double cleanse every day and exfoliate regularly to ensure your pores are free of dirt, which can make them more noticeable. Use a toner or a splash of water to help close pores after cleansing.
To boost elastin levels lost with age, look for products with Retinol. We rate Roc Retin-Ox Wrinkle Correxion Daily Moisturiser, £26.99.
Clinique has a great range of pore-perfecting solutions. I’m a fan of their Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfector, £18. Apply this putty-like formula directly on to affected areas for pore-less skin in an instant – think of it like facial Polyfilla! On 5th October, Clinique will be launching Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfecting Makeup, £23, Boots, so you can shrink pores at every step of your regime.
