The two problems you can face when attempting a bold lip is looking washed out or even over-doing it with too much eye and face make-up. It’s all about balance and choosing the right shade that goes with your skin tone.
Attempting a bright/bold lip is all about experimentation and if you love a colour that suits you, then go for it! Below is a simple tutorial on how to rock a bold lip this summer.
Step 1. Summers nice and all but with all good things there’s a price so to fight itchy eyes, start by using eye drops, such as Opticrom Hayfever Eye Drops, tilting the head sideways and catching any drips with a cotton bud. These work in as little as two minutes to make eyes feel more comfortable and look relieved, ready for make-up application
Step 2. To stop your makeup from melting off your face prep the skin with Revlon Photo Ready primer and Revlon Colourstay Foundation that will last all day. Start by applying the primer to the T-Zone to ensure areas which are prone to sweating are fully covered, then using a sponge work the long lasting foundation in to the skin to create an all over even colour.
Make sure that either the primer or foundation contains SPF for skin protection in the summer.
Step 3. Next apply a rose blush to the apples of the cheeks. A cream blush such as Bourjois Little Round Pot Cream Blush will blend into the skin and stay out all day. Avoid oily formulas as they will slick and slide off your face.
Step 4. Find a nice yellow-based concealer such as Collection’s Lasting Perfection Concealer and apply using a thin brush under the eyes. The yellow tone will counteract any redness as well as covering any dark circles.
Step 5. Using a brush cover the eyelid with a neutral shadow such as L’oreal Paris Colour Rich Quad blending in any hard lines.
The idea is to keep the eyes and face simple to compliment the bold lip colour.
Step 6. Use Collection’s Does It All Waterproof Mascara on your lashes. The mascara will not smudge in the heat because of it’s waterproof qualities.
Step 7. Take a soft eyebrow pencil in a colour matching your brows. Stroke on to one hair at a time brushing through a little colour leaving your eyebrows looking naturally highlighted and full.
Step 8. Now for the pop of colour .Try a bright orange which will complement the subtle tones of the browns in the eye make-up such as Mac Lipstick in Lady Danger to stand out or Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick Vibrant Coral 110 for a subtle yet bright look.
