Hold on to your conically shaped hats. The swashbuckling drama series that is Poldark returns to our screens this summer, and we are BEYOND excited!
Aidan Turner – aka Ross Poldark – will make his swoon-worthy comeback on June 11th at 9pm.
Confirming the news a BBC spokeswoman told the Radio Times:
“The earlier filming schedule on this series means that we can bring the much anticipated third series back sooner for fans to Sunday nights in June.”
Sunday nights + summer + Series 3 = our idea of happiness! And you can get an early teaser by clicking on the video below!
Also winging their wayback to the Cornish coast-based saga are Eleanor Tomlinson as Demelza, along with Heida Reed as Elizabeth, Jack Farthing as dastardly George Warleggan, Ruby Bentall as Verity, Luke Norris as Dr Dwight Enys and Caroline Blakiston as Aunt Agatha.
Poldark Series 3 start: who’s new?
They are also some exciting new additions to the casting line up. This includes Gabriella Wilde as Caroline Penvenen and John Nettles – of Midsummer Murders fame – as Ray Penvenen.
Christian Brassington will also join the series as eccentric vicar Osborne Whitworth.
Demelza’s brothers – rogue Drake (Harry Richardson) and fervently religious Sam (Tom York) – will also appear.
Shedding more light on the series scriptwriter Debbie Horsfield said:
“We’re thrilled to be kicking off series three with a fantastic array of new characters and a story which scales new heights of conflict, feuding, passion and drama.
“Ross is older but not necessary wiser, and his recklessness sometimes costs him, and his loved ones, dear. We’re in for a rollercoaster ride where the stakes have never been higher.”
And in more good news the summer start means that Poldark shouldn’t clash with Victoria, which is expected to air this autumn. Hooray!
So we start the countdown with a smile on our faces!
