Who knew?

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been married for five years. And in that time Prince William has shown himself to be a doting husband and father. But while there is very little that William won’t do for Kate and his children, it seems that there is one area he is unwilling to compromise on.

While Kate proudly shows off the stunning 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire engagement ring previously owned by the late Princess Diana set off by an elegant gold wedding band, a matching symbol of their union is conspicuously missing from her husband’s hand.

The reason? Well it seems that an exchange of rings never took place at the lavish ceremony at Westminster Abbey in 2011. How we missed this we’ll never know!

Explaining the Duke’s reluctance to sport this otherwise essential piece of wedding jewellery, a statement issued by the palace ahead of their big day explained:

“It is simply down to personal preference. It was something the couple discussed but Prince William isn’t one for jewellery.”

We can’t imagine what Kate thinks of William’s decision but what we do know is that nothing can persuade us of anything but the royal couple’s enduring love for each other.
