There were two important people missing from her big day...
Corrie star Samia Ghadie recently tied in knot with her Dancing on Ice sweetheart Sylvain Longchambon. The wedding – Samia’s second – took place at an sprawling country manor, in front of family and friends.
While there were smiles all round on the big day, there were two important things missing from the couple’s long-awaited nuptials. The first was Samia’s father Joseph Ghadie, who lost his battle with cancer on April 14th, 2009. Speaking to OK! Magazine earlier this year about her heartbreak, the soap star said:
“I’ll be sad he won’t be there,” referring to her wedding day. She added:
“It will be a bit of a weird feeling when I’m walking down the aisle without my dad. But he will be watching over me and I’ll be thinking of him”.
The new bride was actually led down the aisle by her six-year-old daughter Freya as the wedding party of 500 looked on.
“Freya walked me down the aisle. I didn’t want her to give me away as she’s never going to have to give me away in life, so she walked me down the aisle as Sylvain is getting Freya as well,” she revealed.
The second missing piece of the wedding puzzle was Samia’s mother Patsy. The 66-year-old was also notably absent as the celebrity pair said ‘I do’.
The pre-wedding fall out
According to The Sun mother and daughter had “the mother of all rows” in June. Patsy reportedly issued an ultimatum over whether or not she would receive an invite to Samia’s wedding.
Tensions are also said to have been rising between the pair in the months leading up to the wedding. This includes a disagreement over the christening of Samia’s son, one-year-old Yves, last year.
