This SATC star's feisty personality would have been the perfect match for drama-filled Corrie.
It’s a long way from the glamorous streets of Manhattan to cobbles of Weatherfield, but that’s the journey Sex & the City actress Kim Cattrall would have made had she taken up the offer of a starring role on one of Britain’s best loved soaps.
During a recent appearance on Good Morning Britain, the star revealed that an offer from Corrie had come in, but she was too tied up with other work engagements at the time to accept.
“They did offer me a part, but I wasn’t available, so maybe they will ask me again,” she told Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan.
SATC star Kim – who is currently starring in the second season of dark comedy Sensitive Skin – is no stranger to life in the North of England, having been born in Liverpool before her family emigrated to Canada when she was just three months old.
Kim has kept some roots up north, returning to Liverpool on numerous occasions, most memorably to pick up the International Arts Icon accolade at the inaugural awards ceremony held by arts and style magazine, The Collective.
Speaking at the time she said: “It’s overwhelming. This is where it all began, not just for me but for my family. To be recognised in my home city means a tremendous amount. I have deep, deep roots here and I feel very protective of the city.”
And while it’s unclear which part the Sex & The City star would have played on Corrie, it seems that a stint behind the bar at the Rovers Return was on the cards.
When asked by showbiz presenter, and Woman’s Own columnist, Richard Arnold if she could pull a pint, Kim replied: “Yes! I could pull a pint yeah”.
We bet Samantha would go down an absolute treat at the Rovers!
