The Duchess of Cambridge, as not only a member of the royal family but also the new patron of the Wimbledon All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, is a regular spectator in the royal box at Wimbledon Tennis Championships.

This year’s tournament, which saw Garbine Muguruza beat Venus Williams in the ladies singles, and Roger Federer beat Marin Cilic to claim his eight Wimbledon victory, was attended by the Duchess of Cambridge twice. Once on day one of the tournament, and again to watch Federer battle his way to record breaking victory.

On both occasions, HRH was taken her rightful place in the royal box. From a family of tennis-lovers, Wimbledon has always been one of Catherine’s favourite royal ‘duties’.

The Middleton family’s interest in Wimbledon is evident, as the Duchess of Cambridge was joined at the prestigious event by all her close relatives as some stage over the two week tournament. Both Carole Middleton and Catherine’s sister Pippa attended Wimbledon on numerous occasions to watch the tennis.

However, whilst Carole Middleton enjoyed the privilege of being grandmother to a future King and took a place in the royal box on her first trip to the tournament with Michael Middleton, both Carole and Pippa where excluded from the royal box when they attended Wimbledon together again later in the week.

Seen scrambling past the seated crowds to find a place just outside of the prestigious royal box area, many wondered why the pair had fallen from grace and been ejected from the royal box and left to sit separately in the stands.

As it turns out, both Carole and her daughter Pippa had intended to take their seats in the royal box, however, they turned up too late and were turned away by Wimbledon’s strict stewards. As a result, the pair who are usually used to VIP treatment were told to take a seat separately in the standard seating area.

Far from being red-faced as their tardy time-keeping, the mother and daughter duo were seen laughing and chatting when they reunited after the match.

The Duchess of Cambridge was not present to see her mother and sister at Wimbledon, as she attended Sunday’s final along with the Duke of Cambridge.

Dressed in a pretty cap-sleeved midi dress with floral detail by designer Catherine Walker, the Duchess was snapped with her favourite Victoria Beckham tote bag to attend the finals of the tournament. The Duke of Cambridge looked dapper in a summer-appropriate-take on a smart suit.

As Catherine greeted crowds with Prince William, elsewhere in the Wimbledon grounds, the rest of the Middleton arrived (on time) as Pippa and her brother James joined their parents Carole and Michael to watch the final day of the tennis.
