Poldark's new series is just weeks away!

Poldark is returning to our screens for a second season on September 4th, and we can’t wait to see Aidan Turner reprising his role as the smouldering Ross Poldark!

poldark series 2

The hit BBC drama is adapted from the novels of Winston Graham. So far it seems that the second instalment could see trouble on the horizon for the series protagonist!

The teaser for the forthcoming series sees British Army officer Poldark utter the words “I fought for our liberty. For our hopes, for our dreams,” before adding: “And I’ll keep on fighting, whatever the cost.”

The nail-biting finale of Season 1 saw Poldark arrested for plundering, wrecking and crucially the murder of his nemesis – George Warleggan’s cousin Matthew.

The trailer for Poldark series 2 shows our hero in chains, suggesting that his woes are far from over.

With Poldark and his wife Demelza continuing to mourn the loss of their daughter Julia – who succumbed to a throat disease as the last series concluded – it seems that there are only clouds on the horizon for the Poldark clan.

A new romance for Poldark?

Aidan Turner has also revealed that there will be an extra layer of drama in Series 2, with Turner’s character enjoying a steamy reunion with his former lover Elizabeth.

The meeting is a departure from the one outlined in the novels. Explaining the difference, Turner told The Sun:

“It seems consensual, and it just seems right. He goes to talk. He doesn’t go to commit a crime. They talk and it seems like there is still this spark between them, this unfinished business emotionally. Certainly, that’s how Ross feels. He doesn’t force himself upon her.”

A third series of Poldark has been commissioned, potentially ruling Turner out of the race to become the new James Bond.

We can’t wait for the return of our favourite Sunday night drama! Are you excited about the new series of Poldark? Let us know on our Facebook page.
