"Some people are like magnets," says Maitre d' Fred Sirieix surveying the nervous diners at at Paternoster Chop House in London. "They just go together and nothing can stop them." And while this may be true, it's sometimes more fun watching the ones who repel each other instead!

Dating… it’s a bit of a minefield. Anyone who has ever been on a first date knows it can be a completely nerve shredding experience. What to wear? What to order? One kiss on the cheek or two? There are so many opportunities for it all to go wrong…

So imagine doing this under the watchful gaze of the nation while they sit comfortably on the sofa, judging every move you make. That’s what some brave, brave people let themselves in for at the First Dates restaurant… With very hit and miss results!

Here are our very favourite First Dates moments… The good, the bad, and the awkward!

When gorgeous Georgia was stood up by her date and left to nurse a glass of wine alone at the First Dates bar, fate stepped in in the form of Alex. Even though he was on a separate date, the two hit it off and a whopping 2.2 million viewers tuned in the following week, rooting for the Geordie’s second attempt at love.

Its great to see people of all ages getting back in the dating game, reminding us that the older generation don’t just want to sit around playing scrabble…

Those awkward post date analysis sessions… Especially when one dater is feeling it more than the other!

We have to admit we do enjoy a giggle at the odd conversation faux pas. Like this girl, who when talking about her date’s ethnicity, revealed a weak spot when it comes to geography…

As in the era of Tutankhamun.

Its refreshing to see how honest some of the daters are…

But perhaps this rather prickly lady took it a step too far…

This guy, who clearly likes the finer things in life…

When Geordie postie Jodie gave dating a second go after being rejected by her first date, then hit it off with newbie Louise, thanking Cheryl Vernandez-Versini, “the God of all things hot”.

And then every so often a couple comes along who are just so darn cute together, they make even the biggest cynic let out a little Awwwww… We’re talking about you Olive and Terence. Legends!

And, of course, I think we’re all in agreement that the tastiest thing on the First Dates menu has got to be Maitre d’ Fred Sirieix! The charismatic Frenchman is always on hand with some calming predate advice or witty insight into all things lurvvvee. Shakespeare, eat your heart out.

Watch us grill Fred here. The way he says butterfly… SWOON!
