‘Lion’ is a film breaking hearts all over the world at the moment. There’s rarely a dry eye left in the house by the time the credits roll.
Leading lady Nicole Kidman plays Sue Brierley an Australian woman who chose to adopt a young boy named Saroo from India. The story centres around Saroo as a young man once he decides to track down his birth family.
Actress Nicole Kidman dedicated her performance in the film to two of her children, Connor and Isabella, who are both adopted. Nicole adopted her eldest two children in1992 and 1995 whilst she was married to Tom Cruise. Nicole and Tom separated in 2001.

The 49-year-old said, “The movie is a love letter to my children who are adopted. I wanted to make the film for them.”
Whilst preparing for the role, Nicole revealed that the first thing she wanted to do was meet Sue Brierley.
The actress describes how she felt “an immediate spiritual bond” with Sue when they met. The star and Sue had a lot in common. They were able to share their personal stories and experiences of adopting and being adoptive parents.
“She told me deep honest truths about herself” Nicole reveals in the interview below.
Finally, Nicole also opens up about her own views on adoption. The actress sheds light on what it’s like when the children get older and begin asking questions about their birth families. “If they want to find their birth parents, you support that” Nicole said.
Nicole’s adopted children are grown-up themselves. Connor is now 22, and Isabella, 24, is married and lives in London.
