Former Liverpool and England football captain Steven Gerrard and his wife Alex have recently welcomed a little boy called Lio George.
The baby boy is the couple’s fourth child together. They are already parents to Lilly-Ella, 13, Lexie, 11 and Lourdes, five.
Proud dad Steven, 37, has been sharing pictures of the new arrival on his social media accounts, much to the joy of his fans.
However, his most recent picture has divided his followers and even been labelled by some critics as ‘disgusting’ and ‘belittling’.
Steven uploaded the following picture to his Instagram account:
The caption read: Looks like his ironing and washing is sorted when he gets older.
Some of his followers soon took offence to what was meant to be a cheeky ‘joke’ and pointed out to the football-pro his mistake, “Truly I think it’s sad to read a comment tag like that” wrote one user. “I’m sure its not a deliberate attempt to pigeonhole your daughters into sexism gender roles, but accidentally is bad enough.”
Someone else said, “So sad that a father thinks so small for their own daughters :(“
Another added, “mad love for you and all, can’t say I can condone my favourite football player to say such things.”
However, not everyone agreed with the criticism of the star. Many of his fans thought the snap of all his kids together is ‘gorgeous’ while others fans stepped in to defend the star, “Give the man a break! It’s all light hearted banter.”

Despite the barrage of comments and criticism on the picture, Steven hasn’t taken it down from Instagram – or changed the comments. Regardless of the caption, the picture is super sweet – and it’s lovely to see the star’s four children all together.
