Sheridan Smith has had a really tough week.

After an amazing birthday and award-winning season topped off with her well-earned OBE, Sheridan found out that her boyfriend, Greg Wood (who plays Trevor Royle in Hollyoaks) has been cheating on her with his co-star.

Taking to twitter in a hurt rage, Sheridan fired out a series of cryptic tweets followed by a post that has since been deleted referencing an, “idiot boy”. There has been an outpouring of support from fans and the grateful actress has been retweeting funny well wishes from followers.

The former Legally Blonde, Cilla and C-Word star also had some exciting news to share with us this week. Taking to twitter once again, the National Television Award winner revealed that she will be playing Fanny Brice in the upcoming stage show revival of ‘Funny Girl’.

The West End production will run at London’s Menier Chocolate Factory and will see Sheridan take on the role last played by Barbra Streisand in the 60s, of the famous Broadway star.

After her gripping performance in ITV’s recent drama ‘Black Work’, we can’t wait to see one of our favourite actresses on stage again! With Sheridan Smith as the lead role and with catchy songs such as “Don’t Rain On My Parade”, the show is sure to be a hit – so at least that is something to get our girl smiling again!

You go Sheridan – keep your chin up!
