Michelle Collins has decided not to renew her contract with ITV soap Coronation Street and will be leaving the soap next year.
Michelle, who plays landlady Stella Price, will bow out of the soap next April despite the shows producers trying to persuade her to stay. And although her reasons for leaving aren’t known single mother Michelle, 51, has previously spoken out about her struggle to raise her daughter Maia, 16, in London while also commuting to Manchester for filming.
The shows producer Stuart Blackburn said: ‘We wish Michelle every happiness as she moves on to pastures new.’
The news will come as yet another blow to the Corrie producers who have been dealing with their fair share of scandal recently. Not only was Corrie favourite Chris Fountain fired earlier this week after offensive rap videos he recorded last year were discovered online but Michelle Keegan also came under fire after she posted a picture online with her story lines in clear view.
