Courteney Cox has said she feels better than ever as she has let her facial fillers dissolve. She is as 'natural as she can be'.
Former ‘Friends’ star Courteney Cox has previously admitted that she choose to have Botox injections and facial fillers in an effort to stay looking youthful. Now aged 53, the actress has revealed that she’s decided to let the facial fillers dissolve, and has opened up about her decision to get rid of what made her ‘look fake’.
The mum-of-one told New Beauty magazine that she was unhappy with the results of her facial injections last year. She said, “I’ve had all my fillers dissolved. I feel better because I look like myself.”
She added, “I think that I now look more like the person that I was, before adjustments, I hope I do. Things are meant to change. Everything’s going to drop. I was trying to make it not drop, but that made me look fake.”
Courteney said she is now as natural as she can be and feels so much better about herself. She admits that gradually the number of facial injections she would have increased and it became too much.
She admitted, “The next thing you know, you’re layered and layered,” she said. “You have no idea because it’s gradual until you go, ‘Oh, s—, this doesn’t look right. You need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do. Those aren’t wrinkles—they’re smile lines. I’ve had to learn to embrace movement and realise that fillers are not my friend.”
“Hollywood—this business—makes it harder”
The actress said ageing in Hollywood was a difficult thing to go through especially when who you feel doesn’t match your age. She said, “I think getting older is just hard in general. I feel like I’m 34, so the thought that I’m not just doesn’t seem natural. I don’t get it.”
The star is adamant she made the right decision, “I feel better than I’ve ever felt in my entire life. I take much better care of myself now.”
She added, “But Hollywood—this business—makes it harder. I grew up thinking that appearance was the most important thing. That’s kind of sad because it got me in trouble. I was trying so hard to keep up, and I actually made things worse.”
Courteney is also conscious of setting a good example to her 13-year-old daughter Coco, whose father is David Arquette, Courteney’s ex-husband. Courteney says Coco is just starting to take an interest in beauty and make-up trends so it made her think about the influence she has on that.
She said: “Luckily, at school she can only wear mascara, but on the weekends you would think she’s going out to a rager at 2 a.m. — eyeliner, mascara, highlighter on her cheeks. I know some people think I should rein her in with the make-up, but it’s a form of self-expression. As long as she’s not sexualising herself, it’s really just what makes her feel good.”
