Liz, who played Vera Duckworth in the soap for 34 years, was taken to hospital in Wythenshawe, Manchester, after experiencing chest pains on Monday and is now said to be recovering at home.
Former co-star Sally Lindsay was one of the first to show her support for Liz, 73, saying: ‘Stick in there, girl — you’re as tough as nails! Liz is the funniest person I’ve worked with. She was brilliant in Corrie — we all love her and every cast member will be right behind her.’
Sally also added: ‘She always came across as a battleaxe. But in truth, she is one of the warmest, kindest, most considerate people you could ever meet.’
