Birds of a Feather actress Linda Robson opened up about a challenging chapter in her life during yesterday’s appearance on Loose Women.
The 59-year-old revealed that she had suffered from a crippling debt habit after her heyday on the popular sitcom, and had “pretty much every store card going”.
She admitted: “I ran up a lot of debts when Birds of a Feather had ended.
“But I was used to having a good income and buying things.”
“I was lying there night after night worrying about telling Mark as he had been telling me that it would all catch up and I would get myself into doubt.”
Reliving the pain and anguish of situation, she added:
“I thought I was going to have a breakdown, I did, I really did. That initial panic telling Mark when he’d been telling me about debt… and with my kids…
“I felt ashamed.”

Thankfully Linda overcome her fears, and while there was an element of ‘I told you so’ from her long-term partner, there was also plenty of support.
With Mark’s help and plenty of side jobs, the mum-of-three was eventually able to reign in her spending. The I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here contestant is now ultra-careful about her finances. And she hopes to pass this money-mindset on to five-year-old granddaughter Lila.
She explained: “We gave Lila a piggybank and she’s saving up £2 because she wants to go to Disneyland.”
The revelations emerged as part of a debate on whether children as young as five should be taught money matters.
