Kerry, who recently filed for bankrupcy for the second time in five years, took to Twitter to make the announcement that she’d landed a starring role in Norma Jean The Musical.
The former Atomic Kitten singer, 32, said in a statement: ‘I’m thrilled to have been given this opportunity to play one of the world’s biggest female icons and can’t wait to get to work.’
Meanwhile the show’s director Belvedere Pashun insists that Kerry was the only actress he wanted playing the blonde film star. Belvedere said: ‘Marilyn’s life was one of extremes – poverty, abandonment, abuse followed by a flowering beauty which brought attention, fame, wealth and power and then the well documented tragic fall. I needed an actor of huge talent, personality and experience – Kerry was at the top of my list.’
Norma Jean The Musical will open in London in September with the first night being performed in front of an invite-only audience.
Will Kerry be able to do Marilyn justice? Only time will tell…
