It’s no secret that the Duchess of Cambridge loves sport. Whether she’s pulling a variety of funny faces whilst watching a match play out in front of her, or gamely taking to the pitch herself to give something a go, it’s clear that Kate gets a great deal of joy from all sporting activities.
Who can forget Kate’s glee when she broke royal rules and got terribly excited at the London Olympics in 2012? Or when she was determined to beat Prince William at cricket in India despite being in a dress and heels?

Well, while the Queen’s favourite royal sporting event may be Ascot, and William and Harry look forward to the rugby, it’s undeniable that one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite sporting events every year in Wimbledon.
Before being made Patron of Wimbledon as one of her royal responsibilites, Kate was a regular as the world renowned tennis championships. She was spotted most summers in the royal box, watching the tense matches on the infamous centre court.
Accompanied in the past by her mum Carole or Sister Pippa, Kate made two trips to Wimbledon last year. One alone in her official role as patron, and one with Prince William to watch the Gentlemen’s Singles final match.
This year, Kate will have been thrilled to hear that she’ll be heading to Wimbledon once more.
Kensington Palace announced yesterday that The Duchess will attend The Championships on Monday 3rd July. As well as watching the matches that day, before play starts Kate will meet members of the Wimbledon staff. This will includce stewards, the medical and safety teams, and the ball boys and girls.
Sounds like a pretty fun day of royal duties to us!
