The royal family are no strangers to the red carpet. Whether it has been rolled out in their honour, or whether they’re attending a glittering premiere, generations of royals have rubbed shoulders with countless A-listers.

The BAFTA Awards 2017 will be no different. After rumours swirled that Kate and Prince William would attend the star-studded bash, Kensington Palace eventually confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would be in attendance.

After the gorgeous lavender gown by Alexander McQueen that the Duchess of Cambridge chose to wear in 2011, everyone was delighted to see Kate Middleton also chose the designer for BAFTA dress of 2017.

Mocking the Duke’s surprise family connection, he said:

“He is still recovering from devastating news he is related to Danny Dyer.”

Luckily the Duke and Duchess took it all in good spirits and chuckled along with the audience!
