Dan StevensIs it just us, or is British TV getting better and better? We love nothing more now than a night in front of the box.

The BBC have announced a raft of new commissions for dramas hitting our screens later this year as well as confirming that Call The Midwife will return for another Christmas special in December, and a third series next year.

One of the new shows is Death Comes to Pemberley, based on the P D James novel that is in itself a sequel to Pride and Prejudice, with Elizabeth and Darcy caught up in a murder mystery.

And one of our favourite period hunks is apparently in talks for stepping into Darcy’s breeches – Downton’s Dan Stevens is reported to be involved.

An adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier’s Jamaica Inn will also satisfy costume drama fans.
