They say a picture speaks a thousand words – so what if that picture was posted to your 70,000 followers on Instagram?
Well, last month fans seemed to think that the friendship between former bandmates Cheryl and Sarah Harding was well and truly over following some serious social media shade thrown between the two.
Apparently, after being ‘unfollowed’ by Cheryl on twitter, Sarah took the public snub to heart, posting a cryptic picture to her Instagram account about Karma. Many think that this move by Cheryl signals the nail in the coffin for their friendship!
Now, speaking for the first time since the rumours spread, Sarah Harding has directly addressed the allegations of a feud between the pair. Talking exclusively to OK! Sarah said, “Why don’t you ask Cheryl? I don’t know. It’s nothing to do with me.”
“I’ve got Cheryl’s number – we don’t have to prove we’re friends online.”
Taking a slight shaded dig at her former bandmate Sarah added, “For me, it’s not a publicity contest. I don’t follow other celebrities to try and befriend them and gain public support.”
“I’m a private person and if I want to speak to any of the girls, then I’ll call them.”
Although Sarah’s comments didn’t clarify the status of her and Cheryl’s friendship, she did confirm that her Instagram post about karma “had nothing to do” with Cheryl.
The pair first met in 2002 on a reality TV that would eventually see them end up in award-winning girl band Girls Aloud together.
Since the band split, Cheryl and Sarah’s relationship has been distant at best, with both pursuing other personal projects.
Cheryl has chosen instead to stay much closer with her other fellow former bandmates, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh. Walsh and Cheryl are incredibly close, with the two mums even planning play dates for their sons together.
The trio were last seen out together on the red carpet at the Pride of Britain Awards, and then celebrating Nicola’s birthday at a private restaurant bash in London.
While Sarah Harding appears to be always left out of these mini-reunions, so is former bandmate Nadine Coyle, who appears to rarely keep in touch with her former friends.
