Trixie Franklin played by Helen George in Call The MidwifeSeries one had us fighting back the tears, and now Call the Midwife stars have confessed to crying at the birth scenes too.

‘I sob like a baby!’ admits Helen George, who plays glamorous Trixie Franklin in the hit series. “It’s that moment when you see the mother with her baby – it always brings me to tears.’

Other cast members admit to their heartstrings being tugged at too. Ben Caplan, the loveable PC Noakes, says the men find it as emotional too.

‘I cry a lot,’ he says. ‘I’ve recently had a little boy so it really gets me. It’s just that wonderful mix of happiness and tragedy.’

Call the Midwife returns to BBC1 tomorrow night at 8pm.
