Andrea McLean third husband announcement has sparked fierce backlash among viewers. But the presenter has finally hit back…
Andrea McLean celebrated some happy news recently. The Loose Women star announced her engagement to boyfriend of three years Nick Feeney, and admitted she was “Beyond happy” at the blissful news.
But sadly, some fans and viewers were quick to put a dampener on proceedings. Just last week, Andrea herself read out a comment from a Loose Women viewer who said she didn’t understand why Andrea was excited about the engagement, having been married twice before already.
At the time, she brushed off the criticism, saying, “I understand why you think that!”.
But clearly, the harsh backlash has finally taken it’s toll on the 47-year-old TV presenter. Live on Wednesday’s Loose Women, she decided to defend her decision to get engaged again.
The Loose Women ladies were in the midst of a discussion about whether your partner would be offended if you didn’t want to marry.
And when it came to her turn, she chatted about her own decision to remarry, saying “I’ve sat here in this very seat, saying, ‘Never again!’”
Co-host Janet Street-Porter was quick to call her own on her turnaround. But Andrea bit back, saying, “Janet, I’m not a hypocrite. I just changed my mind.”
Andrea was previously married to Nick Green, but left the marriage after meeting Steve Toms, who she later married.
Revealing how she felt after her first two failed marriages, Andrea admitted “I genuinely felt I didn’t want to get married again.
“Nick and I had been together for a couple of years or so, and he said, ‘You know, you keep saying never again. It makes me feel really bad that you don’t want to marry me’.”
But the veteran TV presenter also said how much their shared children played a part in the decision too. Andrea said, “It was the kids that made us change our mind. They really wanted that security. Hopefully third time lucky!”
