The screen hunk was really shaken by the incident...

Poldark is returning to our screens this Sunday, and we can hardly wait! We’re anticipating even more on-screen drama for Series 2. And according to show star Aidan Turner – aka Ross Poldark – there’s also been plenty of action off screen.

In an interview with the Radio Times, Turner recalled the details of a horrifying on-set accident. After a freak wave struck his boat in Cornish waters, he accidentally dropped Eleanor Tomlinson – aka his on-screen wife Demelza – into it’s freezing depths.

‘We were filming me lifting Demelza out of a boat in the sea when this huge wave picked up the boat and slammed it into my head,’ he said.

‘I dropped her in the water – not very Ross Poldark’ he joked.

He went on to reveal that Tomlinson wasn’t the only one who suffered during the incident.

‘And nobody was coming to see if I’m OK. I was the man injured. But one of the underwater cameramen got cracked as well and he was concussed,’ he added.

Poldark fans may be left disappointed

Turner also revealed that plummeting temperatures means that there’s a high chance he’ll be keeping his shirt on this season.

‘The chances of me getting my shirt off outdoors in season two are zero,’ he said.

‘It was bloody freezing during filming.’
