Here we show you how to make waffle cones in just three easy steps at home! Plus we’ve got a twist on the classic with delicious chocolate and red velvet versions too! Watch the video above and see the full recipes below…

Original waffle cones

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs – one with the yolk and one without
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 110g plain flour
  • 85g butter (melted and cooled)
  • 110ml of whole milk
  • one capful of vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Dark chocolate, sprinkles and peanuts to decorate (optional)

Method:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl with an electric or hand whisk
  2. Turn on the waffle cone maker and leave it to warm up until the light turns on
  3. Pour a small circle of the mixture into the middle of the plate and then close the lid. Hold down for up to 2 minutes, until the mixture has turned into a golden brown coloured pancake
  4. The next few movements need to happen really quickly – while the cone is still piping hot! Use a spatula to lift the cone batter carefully off the plate and lower onto a clean dish cloth. Place the plastic cone shaper (that comes with your waffle cone maker) near the edge of the cone and roll the batter around it. Use a corner of the dish cloth to help guide the batter around the cone shaper as it will still be piping hot to touch.
  5. Once the batter is wrapped around the cone maker, it will immediately start to cool. Make sure to pinch to bottom together and then hold the cone batter around the cone maker for up to two minutes. Remove the cone maker when the cone feels formed – when it has cooled and hardened into a cone shape!
  6. Leave the cones standing upright in a glass or mug until they  are fully cooled – then decorate however you like

  • 110ml of whole milk
  • one capful of vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 6 tablespoons of coca powder
  • white chocolate and desiccated coconut to decorate

Method:

  1. Make your waffle cone following the steps above, just add the cocoa powder to your mixture at the beginning to make it chocolatey!
  2. Dip the finished chocolate cone into white chocolate and then roll it in desiccated coconut for a delicious bounty-bar inspired treat

Red velvet waffle cones

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs – one with the yolk and one without
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 110g plain flour
  • 85g butter (melted and cooled)
  • 110ml of whole milk
  • one capful of vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 6 tablespoons of coca powder
  • red food colouring

Method:

  1. You make these cones in the same way as the original ones, but you need to add cocoa powder and red food colouring to the mixture at the very beginning

*Top tip: Adding more food colouring to the mixture will make it go a very bright, attractive shade of red – but it will alter the final taste of the cone! Make sure to try the mixture each time you stir in another few drops of red dye, just to check it still taste okay.
