We love a textured, messy up-do for a laid back look that can take you easily from day to night – just like Julia Roberts! The best bit is that this easy ‘do is quick to achieve. Messy, laidback hairstyles are best achieved on hair that hasn’t been freshly washed – so this is perfect if you are short on time.

Here, Kerry Capewell, hair expert from Naturtint, shows us how…

Julia-Roberts

  1. Gently backbrush hair at the crown to achieve height and to create a good base to pin the rest of your hair to.
  2. Pull your hair into a loose ponytail at the nape of the neck – don’t worry about being neat or getting your ponytail perfectly centre. If you have a fringe or side parting, pull out any loose sections of hair from the ponytail to frame the face and soften the style.
  3. Take small sections of the loose ponytail and wrap around your fingers and then pin around and above the ponytail using grips – let the ends fall loosely.
  4. Repeat until all the ponytail has been pinned and finish with a light misting of hairspray.
