woman trying to keep warm standing in front of radiatorQ: I need to save more money and I’m very keen to find out the cheapest dual fuel energy deal. Can you help?

A: Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) is currently offering the cheapest dual fuel energy plan on the market.

The Discount Energy Bonus April 2015 will cost around £1,146 a year, making it £4 cheaper than the next best deal – the isave Dual Fuel v14 from First Utility costs nearer to £1,150 a year.

But it’s worth knowing that this new deal from SSE is a discounted variable product, meaning the gas and electricity costs aren’t set in stone and could go up or down.

However, SSE have guaranteed that prices on the Discounted Energy Bonus April 2015 will definitely be 11% cheaper than SSE’s standard energy rates until 31st March 2014 and then 2% cheaper until the 1st of April 2015.

And SSE is even offering new customers up to £100 off their energy bill if they switch to this deal.

If you’re worried about further energy price increases, though, then you may prefer to go for a fixed plan, such as EDF’s Blue +Price Promise June 2014, which costs £1,182 a year and is fixed until June 2014, protecting you from further winter price rises at the end of this year.

Find out what’s the best energy deal for you via a reputable comparison site, such as uswitch.com, and you might even bag yourself cashback or gifts like a crate of wine simply for switching.
