A: The answer to this question depends firstly on whether you have a water meter or not. If you do have a water meter, then the simple answer is use less water – as you are charged only for the water you use.
Easy ways to save include: swapping baths for five minute showers; turning off taps when brushing your teeth; keeping hose pipe use to a minimum; and even only flushing the toilet when you really ‘have’ to!
If you don’t have a meter, and you have more bedrooms than people living in your home, then you’d probably find your bills would reduce by about £50 a year if you had a meter fitted. But beware! Once your meter is fitted, it can’t easily be removed, so make sure this is the best move for you and your family.
