Q My elbow hurts when I am doing a particular movement and is sore when I press over the edge of it. I didn’t bang it – what is it?
A This is most likely tennis elbow which is when the muscles and tendons attached to the elbow are strained.
It often happens when there is repetitive strain on the elbow joint caused by one activity you may be undertaking.
Try and avoid the activity which may be triggering it and if your elbow is still painful after resting it for a few days then see your GP.
They will examine you and may give you some anti-inflammatory painkillers if it does not settle by itself. They may refer you for a scan or physiotherapy if the problem continues.
