Itching is driving me crazy

Q: I have had a bumpy rash on my hands for about a week and it is so incredibly itchy. I have tried anti-allergy tablets but it is not helping. What can I do?

A: This may be a form of eczema called pompholyx. It is relatively common and can affect your palms and feet.

It starts as a very itchy rash with small blisters on your skin and then becomes dry and cracked and sore.

You should see your doctor to get a strong steroid cream and moisturiser (emollient).

They may want to check you don’t have scabies (a parasite infection), which would need a different treatment and you would need to treat everyone in your household!
