Recipe - caramel and apple tartlets


Could this be the cheapest sweet treat ever? These quick and easy caramel and apple tartlets are just 27p each and ready in 20 minutes. What’s not to love?



375g ready-rolled puff pastry, at room temperature

2 red-skinned eating apples

2tbsp dulce de leche, such as Carnation Caramel

Pinch of ground cinnamon

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/Gas 6. Unroll the pastry and cut out 8 circles, each about 10cm in diameter.2.

2. Divide the circles between two lightly greased backing trays and spread a little dulce de leche (caramel) on each one.

3. Cut the apples into quarters and remove the cores. Slice each quarter thinly and lay the slices down the center of each pastry circle, overlapping them.

4. Sprinkle the cinnamon over the tartlets and bake them in the preheated oven for about 20 mins, or until the pastry is cooked and golden. Serve hot or cold.
