Fern BrittonIt’s not just the foxtrots and tangos we tune into Strictly Come Dancing for. We also love watching for the increasingly skimpy and sparkly outfits and incredible make up.

Lisa Armstrong, head of make-up and hair at Strictly, reveals, ‘I couldn’t live without H20 Bioderm Cleaning Water (£15.50, gurumakeupemporium.com). It shifts everything and is really soothing on the skin.’

The team work with the stylists, dancers and producers to decide on each celeb’s look for the week – ‘we can’t have hair sticking to their lipgloss!’, says Lisa – and keep a record of it on file so they don’t repeat the same look during the series.

The busy make-up artists then get to work at 9:30 on Saturday morning to test out the look during dress rehearsal and change anything that goes wrong or doesn’t look right before taking it all off and starting again for the live show in the evening.

Lisa says she has been focusing on Victoria Pendleton’s ‘amazing’ eyes this series, and making the most of Kimberley Walsh’s skin with primer mixed with highlighter.

And her other top tips to get the Strictly look? ‘Lips, lashes and liner!’
