He might be enjoying his new role as dad to gorgeous baby Eric but things aren’t all rosy in the world of Simon Cowell after it was announced today that his X Factor inspired musical I Can’t Sing is to be axed.
The show, which stars former Eastenders actor Nigel Harmen and is written by Harry Hill, will close in just two weeks only a month after it launched at the London Palladium.
According to insiders the show suffered from low ticket sales with many complaining that the prices were too high (some were selling for as much as £87.50) as well as failing to attract audiences from outside of London.
‘The show just didn’t convince X Factor fans outside London it was worth making the trek and forking out a small fortune,’ one insider said. ‘London theatregoers are a particular bunch and many would say they aren’t fans of Simon and his shows. However, theatre insiders are still shocked by the show closing so early as it was expected to run for at least six months,’ they added.
The news marks a bad few months for the music mogul after news broke that his X Factor USA show was also being chopped.
