Is Kate going to develop her own organic food range?
The Middletons have always been an entrepreneurial family with the Duchess’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, owning and developing their online party business ‘Party Pieces’. After graduating from university, Kate worked for her parents for a while, helping them run the business, where she clearly picked up a few pointers – as the Duchess of Cambridge is now rumoured to be starting a business of her own.
Inspired by her love of organic food and the wonderful estate surrounding her home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, Kate could be planning to release her own line of organic food grown within the grounds! The idea started after the Duchess began wrapping up walnuts in decorative bags for the staff who work at the Anmer estate, and very soon you could be able to get your hands on products straight from the royal gardens too.
Apparently the new food range would be called something along the lines of ‘Anmer Organics’, with all the produce grown on the Anmer Hall estate in Norfolk where William and Kate live with Prince George and Prince Charlotte.
A source told the Daily Mail: “It’s a concept for now but it will happen – just give it 18 months or so. And it’s natural that it should do so. One day Prince William will want to have a profitable business attached to his estate to generate funds…It’s also important for William to promote his home, Norfolk.”
Kate wouldn’t be the first member of the royal family to branch out and explore developing a food range for the general public. Prince Charles has the famous ‘Duchy Originals’ range that sells in Waitrose and has made millions for charity.
Like her father-in-law’s food line, profit from the sales of Kate’s organic food range would go straight to one of the many charities the royal family support.
However, if her husband Prince William has any say in the matter, Kate’s idea may remain just that! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed an evening at a gala for charity recently, and were heard trading jokes about Kate’s cooking skills over dinner.
Whilst the couple enjoyed an incredible meal prepared for them by five Michelin-starred chefs at the glamorous event in Norfolk, The Duchess of Cambridge was overheard telling guests that the Duke of Cambridge would particularly enjoy the evening because, “William has to put up with my cooking most of the time”.
Prince William was then said to have quipped in response, “It’s the reason I’m so skinny!” suggesting he doesn’t go in for seconds when Kate is the cook, and he won’t be encouraging her to sell her culinary creations any time soon!
