Is Prince Harry engaged? Well, not yet – but if the rumours are true there’s a VERY special ring in the works!
Although Prince Harry had his mother’s engagement ring initially, he gave it to Prince William so that he could propose to Kate.
He might not have his mother’s engagement ring to give Meghan, but Prince Harry still plans to include his mother in his proposal.
According to a source close to the Prince, Harry is planning on turning another of his mother’s cherished jewellery pieces into a beautiful engagement ring.
The piece Harry has in mind is an emerald headband that his mother wore to glamorous balls. He’s chosen it with Meghan in mind, as apparently emeralds are her favourite gem stone.
A source told The Daily Star: “Diana’s jewellery collection was left in trust for the boys and Meghan apparently loves emeralds.
“For Harry, like Wills before him, using his mother’s gems means the two loves of his life will forever be linked.”
“After Diana died, the boys both chose a keepsake from Kensington Palace when they moved to Charles’ rooms in St James’s Palace.
“Prince William picked his mum’s Cartier watch, and Harry picked her sapphire and diamond engagement ring.
“But they had an agreement that whoever got engaged first would have Diana’s ring – and of course that was William and Kate.
“Harry wants the same sentiment when he proposes to Meghan, so he is working with the jewellers to design something incredible.”
Pieces like the emerald headband were very important to Diana, as they allowed her to express her own sense of style while still confirming to the royal dress code and rules.
“She had her own theatrical touches when it came to fashion, because she did love to play with fashion” Eleri Lynn, curator of the Diana: Her Fashion Story exhibition revealed.
“She’d wear a choker on her forehead like a headband. She clearly loved to play with fashion to express herself.”
Prince Harry has already met Meghan’s beloved father, and reportedly received his blessing for their relationship. [READ MORE HERE]
The couple also recently attended a wedding of one of Prince Harry’s closest friends in Barbados, and are expected to attend Pippa Middleton’s wedding together in the summer.
This year marks 20 years since Princess Diana’s untimely and tragic death. Proposing with a piece of her jewellery will be a way of Harry honouring her and keeping her memory alive.
