Ever since Prince Harry served in the army and returned from his second tour of Afghanistan, he has strived to promote support for wounded men and women as they adapt to life post-injury.

He was inspired to create the Invictus Games in 2013. The games see wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part in sports. These include, wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, and indoor rowing.

In addition, Harry also launched the ‘Heads Together’ campaign with his brother Prince William, and Kate. ‘Heads Together’ focuses on mental health, with Prince Harry raising awareness for the psychological impact on soldiers returning from service.

Now, it has been revealed that Prince Harry intends to learn a new technique for helping psychologically damaged military veterans – from a famous horse whisperer!

Monty Roberts, known as  ‘the original horse whisperer’, is a Californian born equine specialist. He is famous for his technique of communicating with horses through body language.

In recent years, Roberts has turned his techniques to aiding ex-servicemen and women who are dealing with conditions like post traumatic stress disorder.

Mr Roberts told the Evening Standard: ‘The prince has learned of this work and wanted to get a greater understanding. It will be an honour to show him.’

Especially relevant, is this is not Monty’s first encounter with the royal family. The self-described ‘Californian cowboy’ has worked with the Queen and her beloved horses for over 25 years. The Queen first asked him to Windsor Castle in 1989. He has been working with, and training her horses ever since.

The horse whisperer spent a day working with veterans at a Help for Heroes centre in 2014. He has also run classes for US military at his Californian ranch.

Just days after the Duchess of Cambridge revealed that Princess Charlotte loves horses just like her great grandma, it seems that Prince Harry has also inherited that family’s interest in all things equine!
