Father-of-three Peter Andre has revealed his ongoing concern about his children’s health. Appearing on Loose Women, the 43-year-old spoke to the panel about his fear that Junior, 11, and Princess, nine, were too thin.
Peter admitted that he was,”conscious of my kid’s weight” when it comes to his eldest two children. Expressing his concerns he said, “I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing but I weigh them, because I want them to put on weight.’
The singer and presenter went on to explain that his fears stem from his own weight problems as a child. “I was a very skinny kid, when I was Junior’s age. So if I see my kids not eating a lot I get concerned” he explained.
The star also detailed his fear that his children wouldn’t want to put on weight because of pressures from their peers and society’s unattainable beauty standards. “You hear things all the time that kids say things at school. My daughter’s friend at school thought she was overweight and she was very thin. So it concerns me.”
The doting dad explained how his method of weighing his children was, “to boost them up” as well as for him to check on their health.
However, not all of the panelists thought this was a good idea. Two of his fellow panellists objected to the idea that you should weigh your children and criticised Peter’s approach.
This Morning regular and former TOWIE star Ferne said, “I’m not a parent but I probably wouldn’t weigh my children.” She went on to say, “This day and age it’s so much about body image, if you’re putting that into practice by weighing them, they might be more focused on it later on in life.”
