Yes, we’re a nation of animal lovers (well we’d say most of us are), and so tonight’s don’t miss TV has to be Paul O’Grady presenting the oscars of the animal world – The British Animal Honours 2013.

Celebrating the achievements of the nation’s most extraordinary creatures and the people who work with them, the categories include military service and bravery.

Up for an ‘In the Line of Duty’ award is seven-year old labrador Tyke. Handed in to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home when he was just one year old, he has been busy defending the country’s borders and is one of the team’s most famous detector dogs in the area.

Tyke is just one of the many Battersea dogs that have gone on to make a huge contribution to our Services.

The British Animal Honours 2013 is on ITV tonight at 8pm
