A Hollywood actor that has been linked to his fair share of supermodels, and a regal national treasure in her 80s, one of the most unlikely celebrity pairings we might have predicted this year would have been Leonardo DiCaprio and Maggie Smith. However the stars surprised us all on Sunday night, when the pair were filmed sharing a kiss at the BAFTAs!

As the BAFTAs took place on February 14th this year, Stephen Fry and the organisers of the award ceremony decided to introduce a ‘kiss cam’ into the show.

Traditionally an American concept for big sports games where couples will appear on the big game screens in stadiums and be cheered on by the crowd until they kiss, Stephen Fry introduced the game to the glitzy ceremony full of film stars. In honour of Valentine’s Day a heart shaped frame appeared around different stars in the auditorium, who then gamely lent in to kiss each other for the audience and everyone watching at home!

One very lucky lady last night was Dame Maggie Smith, who appeared on the kiss-cam screen with none other than Leonardo DiCaprio! The Downton Abbey star almost didn’t see the kiss coming as Leo leant forward in his seat without hesitation to plant a peck on the 81-year-old’s cheek.

Surprised and smiling, Maggie then returned the gesture by turning around to give the Titanic-star a big hug. Needless to say there would have been more than one lady in the audience (and watching from home) who would have wanted to be sitting in Maggie’s seat for the show last night!

Other celebs that puckered up for fun on the kiss-cam were Julianne Moore and ‘Breaking Bad’ star Bryan Cranston, and Eddie Izzard and Rebel Wilson!
