There have been several rumours about who might join up to the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing. Now the first celebrity to sign up has been confirmed and it is… Former Bros superstar Matt Goss!

The singer will be strutting his stuff and attempting the Tango for a chance at winning the famous glitterball trophy.

Love Strictly? Then you won’t want to miss the chance to holiday on a luxury river cruise down the Danube with some of the programme’s most famous stars: Arelene Philips and Ola and James Jordan. See the details

For those that don’t recognise him for his boyband days, his face might seem familiar because he also appeared on the 2013 Christmas special of Strictly alongside Aliona Vilani. They scored an impressive 35 points from the judges for their performance of the American Smooth. However, Matt was beaten by comedian Rufus Hound when the studio audience’s votes were counted along with the judge’s scores.

A source told the Sun Online: “Matt is an amazing coup for Strictly. Bosses were keen to sign him up after he impressed in the Christmas special and he will definitely be a favourite with viewers.”

The source added: “He’s one of the best performers in music so he could go all the way and win it. It was a no-brainer to sign him up, he’s definitely going to be the eye-candy for the mums with his looks. He’s a massive sex symbol with a huge fan base across the world for both his music and his hunky looks so he bring in even more viewers.”

Matt shot to fame in the 80s as a member of the band Bros which enjoyed a major hit in 1988 with “When Will I Be Famous?”.

Matt’s twin brother, Luke Goss, was also in the band and alongside Craig Logan. Craig left the band in 1989 and Bros finally split in 1992. Matt embarked on his own solo music career in 1995. His singing talent also brought him back to Strictly last year to perform the song “White Christmas”.

Last year Matt and Luke announced that they would reunite for a 30th anniversary gig after 24 years. They will perform in August this year at London’s O2 Arena.

Now that Matt has been confirmed, will this trigger more announcements to come through?
