The Spice Girl landed a role on the show’s panel alongside supermodel Hedi Klum, Howard Stern and Howie Mandel after her stint on last year’s X Factor, but is seems that Mel isn’t going down well with the American audience.
Mel was booed in the latest episode of AGT after hitting the buzzer on a contestant who she deemed to have told a racist joke.
Upon hearing the boos Mel told the contestant in question: ‘I found it really offensive. There was no need to do a stereotypical black joke. It was not funny.’
Mel’s fellow judges also failed to see what all the fuss was about with Howie even telling her she needed to get a sense of humour.
This isn’t the first time Mel’s reaction to an act has failed to impress the audience. She was also booed during her first appearance on the show when she told a brass band in New Orleans that she wasn’t a fan of their music.
Mel was met with cries of, ‘Go home!’ and ‘No respect!’ from the audience. Unbeknown to the singer the band were hugely popular in their hometown.
Uh oh! Poor Mel.
