Lorraine Kelly points to judge Darcey Bussell as the reason for Strictly’s success this series.
With over 20 years at the sharp end of ballet, Darcey knows a thing or two about the dancefloor.
But has she cut it on the judging panel of Strictly? One of the show’s biggest fans, Woman’s Own columnist and Daybreak host Lorraine Kelly, says yes and gives Darcey a 10!
‘This year the judging panel has been razor sharp,’ Lorraine tells us. ‘With the introduction of former ballet dancer Darcey, who has incredible knowledge about dance, I think the other judges have raised their game.
‘Bruno is even more flamboyant, Craig’s zingers have made me laugh out loud and the wonderful Len is a bit crustier than usual!’
Darcey, 43, made her Strictly debut in October and immediately rattled viewers with a curious verbal tic. Lorraine admits, ‘Once she overcame her initial habit of saying “yah” after every sentence, I really warmed to her.’
Lorraine, 53, also highlights Strictly’s host Sir Bruce Forsyth as a reason for tuning in.
‘The show wouldn’t be the same without Bruce and his daft jokes and terrible puns,’ says Lorraine.
‘He is simply astonishing for a man of his age. At 84 he is sharp as a tack and cleverly makes fun of himself, which makes him all the more endearing. Words like national treasure are bandied about all too freely, but Brucie is the real deal.’
