PLUS, the heartbreaking reason she was reluctant to have a child...
Could Lisa Riley children finally be on the cards? The former Emmerdale actress has finally admitted she wants her own kids, after years of denying she ever would…
Regular Loose Woman guest Lisa Riley has made a shock candid confession recently. On an episode of the daytime show, she finally revealed that she would like children.
The 41-year-old star has firmly denied that she’d like any kids for years. But a discussion on Loose Women left her opening up about the possibility of finally starting a family.
The ladies were discussing whether or not IVF should be available on the NHS to women over 35. And the chat left Lisa admitting that she had changed her mind about wanting to become a mum.
She said, “I’ve always said because of my mum [who died of cancer] and the cancer gene, I was very reluctant to have a child.
But Lisa later discussed how finding ‘The One’ has made her reconsider. “But like you [Linda Robson] said, you might not have met the right person. Well I’m really lucky that over the last three years, I feel that I have met the right person, and the person who I would want to be the father of my child.
“So I would like to think the NHS would help me should I need it.”
Discussing her previous reservations, she admitted, “I could be a good mother.”
And, addressing her fellow Loose Ladies, Lisa said, “You lot always tell me that don’t you? Maybe it is my time.”
Chatting about the possibility of IVF, she revealed, “But I don’t want to have this lid on it that says ‘no you can’t have any help’, I want to be able to think that I could.”
“I feel like I’ve met the right person and should I want to try and have a baby that maybe I can.”
But, like all people who question their ability to conceive naturally, Lisa admitted her anxiety about getting help falling pregnant.
She continued, “But do I allow Mother Nature to take its course or am I too old? I’m at this real crossroads in my life where I don’t know what to do.
“It makes you think, again, because it’s stamping the age, it’s 41. Maybe 15 years ago people would say ‘oh you’re too old’, but now I don’t think that’s the case.”
Confessing that her career has also been a priority, Lisa said, “I always wanted my career. I always wanted to not be thinking of having a child so early, whereas I think it was expected, where I lived, all my friends had their kids so early in life. But now who knows, maybe it is my time.”
Lisa has previously confessed that the toll of her own mother’s illness has been the root cause behind not wanting to have children. She’s admitted that she’d never want to put children of hers through that, saying, “”But for me, I don’t want to put a child through the pain that I went through – seeing the last three years of my mum, I couldn’t do that to my child.
“So I’ve consciously made the decision that I’m not going to have a child naturally. I’m not.”
Lisa later opened up on social media to thank her fans for their support following her honest confession.
Writing on Instagram, she said, “can I PLEASE thank you ALL for your incredible messages of support”. Lisa’s post was also met by a wave of support from fans, one of whom wrote “Such an inspiration to all us women.”
